Memory Foam Mattress Decisions
People face a lot of tough decisions in their lifetimes. Where to go to college, who to marry, what kind of neighborhood they should live in, what is the best type of car for their family, and so on and so forth. But another decision that is taken more lightly, that perhaps should not be is what they are sleeping on. With the stresses of everyday life, coming home to a mattress that is not right for them will just cause more stress on their body than it should. Once a person finally decides that they need a new mattress, what is best for them? With the right knowledge, a person could make a better decision. Plus, there is a type of mattress that is beginning to catch the eye of more and more people, the memory foam mattress.
“Memory foam” was first introduced in the 1970’s when NASA was trying to come up with a material for their astronauts that would keep the stress of launching off down to a minimum. From there, a company in Sweden, Tempur-Pedic, coined the material in a mattress, and “poof”, the memory foam mattress was born. Tempur-Pedic began selling their mattress overseas first and then slowly began to sell the mattress here in the United States. Slowly, companies in the US decided that it was time for them to develop their own memory foam mattresses to compete with Tempur-Pedic. What is unique about the mattress was that it was made from a material that would contour completely to a person’s body when they laid down, without pressure points or sagging, and then return to its previous shape when a person stood back up. Memory foam mattress are made differently than traditional mattress so they have a different system for deciding how firm, soft or good a mattress will be for a specific person
